Not the easiest assembly...Aug 28, 2010 We received this guy as a birthday present after much waiting and determination. But, I have to say, that for a nine-year-old, this guy is quite the tedious task. The wings move in such a way that if you misassemble the included rubber bands, the thing just won't work at all and the wings fall off quite readily. Sure is cool when it's done though! It is designed beautifully and contains the most popular minifigures as well. It can withstand some play, but then again, after you get the thing together, you're too afraid to touch it ever again!
Great set overall but again, if you're giving it to a younger boy, be prepared to help with the assembly. It's definitely worth it because it's definitely one of the nicest sets we've purchased. Nice colors too! Highly recommend!
Given as a gift, totally great responseJul 17, 2010 We gave this as a gift recently at a birthday party for an 8 year old and I could not believe the response. Loud scream and almost didn't want to open other presents. When we visited later, we got to see the results and got told all about it. Not sure if it's the Legos or the Star Wars, but a winner either way.

Beautiful Toy, but...Apr 06, 2010 Lets face it: Lego toys are just wonderful. This toy is no exception, however my son couldn't play with it (at least not as an x-wing) because the method of attachment of the wings led to their falling off all the time. Once the thing is built, if you try to reattach a wing or something, you wind up knocking several other pieces off. Very frustrating. And then the wings fall off anyway. Made me think it's really more like a model which you don't play woth, you just assemble and admire. That said. my son is enjoying it in its new state (created by him) and likes the characters. As long as he's happy, so am I. Just wish I hadn't spent 2 hours assembling it.
STAR WARS X-WING FIGHTER 6212Mar 29, 2010 This is a great set. My mates son loves this set. Not too difficult to put together. Great mini figures. However, don't buy from these 3rd party rip-offs!! I bought it directly from Lego shop online and paid $49.99 for it, list price. These thieves should be shot! Amazon should not allow such price gouging. I don't care if its a free market, some people just don't know you can buy it for $49.99 from Lego.
BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!Mar 22, 2010 I got this set yesterday. After a few landings, I realized that when I was taking Luke out, the front landing gear collapsed. but other than that it is a great set! Totaly worth the money!
