5Nice for the priceJul 31, 2010
This is an all in 1 device that is very convenient. I set up My Music selection so that it would play the music recordings stored on my computer. It's really enjoyable to be able to listen to my collection while I'm in my upstairs bedroom. Also, I'm getting the best of music from virtually every country in the world, and it opens me up to tuning into traditional music from various countries. I could go on about this unit, but if you're interested, I suggest you check the reviews on [...] as well as the reviews on Logitech's website. I look forward to buying their battery and remote. I've owned this unit about a month now. Even before [...] gave this radio a top value review, my research pointed to this radio for its overall value for what it offered. I was not disappointed. Setting it up was rather easy, however, I'm an experienced tech junkie, so I've had much more experience than the average Joe on wi-fi connections. It came with a Quick Start Guide which was very basic. It did not come with the full Feature Guide which provides a comprehensive review of all its controls and further instructions. I found the instructions on Logitech's website which was okay, but they should have provided it along with the unit. I placed a call to their support department, and I voiced my opinion on this matter, and they sent me a full Feature Guide which they printed out on 8x10 paper. I advised them that customers should not have to print out 32 pages when they could have easily provided it. I think this is about the only complaint I had in purchasing this unit. Nevertheless, I gave it a full 5 star rating because, ultimately, it's an excellent product. I purchased the red box because a number of other reviews complained about the finger print stains on the black unit. The sound quality is exceptional for a small radio. Almost immediately, I subscribed to a number of music services such as Pandora, Slacker, and a few others. Literally, thousands of stations around the world. As I'm bilingual Spanish, it opens up all the nations that are Spanish speaking. One of my immediate observations is noting that virtually every nation plays American music which attests to its popularity. While I'm a music buff, I'm also into talk radio, and I'm very pleased to connect with all those nations that have talk radio with call-ins from their listeners. It really gives me quite an education on politics and other matters of interest. I've noted a few reviews where some have complained about dropped connections. I think this has a lot to do with the router, and I own pre-N router which I've used for several years and which has an exceptional range. I never have problems with dropped connections. From the first setup, I got a connection, and I have my unit in the upstairs suite which is about 50 feet from the router.

3Nice device, but NOT PORTABLEJul 31, 2010
Logitech has produced a highly functional, responsive wifi radio with good sound in a small package. But anyone buying it should know that they can't count on portability. The rechargeable battery must be purchased separately from logitech, with a remote control (who really uses a remote with small portable devices?) The price is $50. BUT they are not in stock, and if you read Logitech forums, it appears getting one has been a source of great frustration to customers. Many wait six months of more for back orders, or haven't received them at all. Also, if you manage to get one, charge life appears to be 4-5 hours when new. Expect that charge life to be about half that in a year.

For $150 Amazon price, this device can't be beat. But reconcile yourself to having a tethered device for a few months, maybe forever.

1Great Conception, Poor ExecutionJul 30, 2010
This COULD be such a great product, but the radio firmware is HORRIBLY BUGGY! As other reviewers have observed, the radio will power off for no reason, will lose connection to the internet forcing you to constantly unplug the unit, hold down buttons upon restart, and then enter your WIFI codes again and again (not a good thing if you have a lengthy password). I have spent countless hours on the phone with Logitech support. While they are kind on the phone, they don't have an answer, and will walk you through the same instructions time and again with the same results; the next day or two, and your radio doesn't work again. I have been promised call backs from them within 24 hours with "someone who knows how to fix the problem", and no one ever calls. The last person I talked with told me I have to send the product back to them, despite the fact that they know it is a firmware problem which they have no idea if/when it will ever be fixed, and maybe a new unit will work better. What?? I was told they want to further study my radio to find out what is wrong with it, as everyone seems to be complaining of the same problems. How can a unit with the same problems be "fixed" of a known firmware problem that stymies the entire product line's function?? I love the look, sound, and feel of this radio, but it doesn't work the way it's advertised. I'm very disappointed.

4Awesome little radio - if you love world music, news!Jul 28, 2010
First, it was easy to set up...I should say super easy. I simply typed in the WEP key from my router, allowed it to update and put in my email, and off it went. That is it. I cannot comprehend how anyone could have problems setting it up.

Second, I think it is easy to use. I think it can be a bit challenging to find a specific station you want. I think that the set up could be better, but I am not sure how. I just think it could be. I assume that in the interest of size, the screen can only offer so many options. However, I really just enjoy looking for stations around the world and this is easily done. It is also easy to put in your presets - like a car radio. I also love the local music function, that provides a list of local stations - almost making your am/fm radio unnecessary.

Lastly, the sound quality is not great. However, I would say that this can be solved by doing what I did - connecting it to your stereo or other sound system. I have an old receiver that I love with two nice Polk Audio speakers, and you can just plug in the device. I purchased, for $3.03 a Belkin "Audio Y Cable Splitter 1-Mini Plug/2-RCA Plugs" - see: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Z5CP/ref=oss_product

Enjoy!

5Also a great alarm clockJul 25, 2010
The internet radio is great. The sound is not huge but is clear and not boomy. But it's easy to plug into a bigger amplifier system if you want to fill the room. (Or get the Logitech Boombox) I wanted this radio because I am a restless sleeper and love three in the morning talk shows. I don't care if they are pod casts or what. But I do listen with ear buds so I don't disturb my husband. What I super like is that the alarm clock bypasses the ear buds. This has been a problem with any other clock radio I have had in the past. There are multiple sounds to wake up to and you can set them to start soft and get louder. You can set them for any day and it remembers that day (or multiple days.) So my Sunday get up for church goes off every Sunday without me having to turn it on. The little bell icon on the screen tells me - on Saturday night - that its set to go in the morning. You can choose digital or analog clock and dim the screen to whatever. I love the analog set fairly dim and it's perfect.

I took the radio out of state to my daughter's for a week visit. It quickly recognized her WiFi and with her password, it was up an running. Just got home. One look at networking and it was back on my system.

And I can access all my Itunes from my bedroom. I have downloaded books as well as over 2000 songs.
All available any time.
.
LOVE THIS RADIO!!!
